SMS BASED SERVICE FOR CHALLAN STATUS

Tax Information Network (TIN) hosted by National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) on behalf of Income Tax Department (ITD) gives you a facility to verify whether the banks have correctly uploaded the details of your tax deposit to ITD through SMS.

"SMS based verification " The procedure for availing this facility is as under:

  1. Send an SMS to 575758 with a message containing the word CSI followed by a space and CIN provided by the respective Bank at the time of making the Direct tax payment and the amount.
  2. Challan Identification Number (CIN) consists of BSR Code of Collecting Branch (seven digit), Challan Tender Date (DDMMYYYY) and Challan Serial No (length less than or equal to 5 digit).
  3. The amount is an optional field. If you provide the amount in the SMS you would get the confirmation whether the amount uploaded by bank matches with the amount paid by you.
  4. Each of BSR code, Tender date, the challan serial number and amount should be separated by commas

For e.g., if the tax payer input “CSI 0510001,11032009,5,5000” where in “0510001” is the BSR code of the collecting branch, “11032009” is the Challan tender date, “5” is the Challan serial number and “5000” is the amount paid by the taxpayer.

The tax payer will get the information against which TAN/PAN the payment has been accounted with the confirmation whether amount entered is matched or not.

(This is an illustrative CIN, actual CIN should be provided in the SMS).

There will be special charges for these SMS. These charges may vary from one mobile service-provider to another. The charge structure can be obtained from the concerned service-provider.

Online Challan Status Inquiry

You can also get the status of your CIN from www.tin-nsdl.com under the section Challan Status Inquiry.

Guide for "Choosing Right Insurance Cover"

In the current environment, where uncertainty has become an integral part of every family across the globe, insurance has gained in importance. Whether it is health or life cover, families seem to be more willing to shell out money to protect themselves and to cover risk.
While the domestic insurance industry still does not offer products like cover against loss of employment, the existing basket of products offer enough options in the current scenario.

The first insurance policy, often, begins as a tax-saving instrument as the insurance premium up to a limit of Rs. 1 lakh qualifies as a tax-saving instrument. For a young investor, it is not a bad idea to begin the tax planning exercise with an insurance product. For instance, if an individual is required to make an investment of Rs. 50,000 - 60,000 in tax planning, he can look at allocating at least Rs. 25,000 - 30,000 to an insurance plan. This would allow him to take an insurance cover of Rs. 5-10 lakhs which would be the basic cover and the rest can be in investment related products such as equity-linked saving schemes (ELSS). While the premium ensures life cover for his dependents, the other options will help in building a corpus for his future needs.

For those in the early 20's, a unit-linked insurance plan (ULIP) would be a better option as it allows them to have exposure to equity. More importantly, they have a long tenure at their disposal which is a big positive factor for equity exposure. Since ULIP also allows flexibility such as premium discontinuation and combination of investment schemes, this should be the first choice.

The less aggressive ones can look for endowment or returns guaranteed products if insurance cover is of primary importance. Those with dependent families can stick to pure term plans as this will allow them to have good life cover of around Rs 25 lakhs for a nominal premium. That brings us to the question of how much is the right insurance cover. There can't be a single answer as it depends on a number of factors such as lifestyle, the extent of dependence of the family on the individual and more importantly on the liability.

While at a young age, the liability factor will not be of significance, it assumes importance over a period of time. To address the issue of needed life cover, one can look at 20 times their annual income to begin with. This will ensure enough cash flow for the family in the event of any emergency.

The other insurance product which is easily acceptable is a child plan. In fact, this can be an important component of the overall portfolio for those who don't have enough asset backing at an early stage of life. For instance, young parents can look at child insurance plans as this ensures both protection and the needed corpus for funding the child's education. Though it can be argued that a systematic investment plan (SIP) in an equity fund does the job of wealth creation, a child insurance plan also does the job of protection. As far as the burden of insurance charges is concerned, it becomes less relevant when the child plan has a tenure of more than 10 years. As pointed out earlier, child plans also take care of insurance cover, and ensure the continuance of the investment too, in the event of death of the parent, which is not the case with a SIP.

Hilarious Mail from a frustrated victim of chain mails

8th point is AWESOME......

I wanted to thank all my friends and family who have forwarded chain mails to me in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and continuing it in 2009 also.
Because of your kindness:

* I stopped drinking Coca Cola after I found out that it's good for removing toilet stains.
* I stopped going to the movies for fear of sitting on a needle infected with AIDS.
* I smell like a wet dog since I stopped using deodorants because they cause cancer...
* I don't leave my car in the parking lot or any other place and sometimes I even have to walk about  7 blocks for fear that someone will drug me with a perfume sample and try to rob me.
* I also stopped answering the phone for fear that they may ask me to dial a stupid number and then I  get a phone bill  with calls to Uganda, Pakistan, Singapore and Tokyo.
* I also stopped drinking anything out of a can for fear that I will get sick from the rat faeces and urine.
* When I go to parties, I don't look at any girl, no matter how hot she is, for fear that she will take me to a hotel, drug me, then take my kidneys and leave me taking a nap in a bathtub full of ice.
* I also donated all my savings to the Amy Bruce account. A sick girl that was about to die in the hospital about 7,000 times.. (Poor girl! she's been 7 since 1993...)
* Still open to help somebody from Bulgaria who wants to use my account to transfer his uncle's property of $ 100 million. So much trustworthy.
* Made some Hundred wishes before forwarding those Ganesh, Tirupathi Balaji pics etc. Now most of those 'Wishes' are already married  (to someone else)
IMPORTANT NOTE
:
If you do not send this e-mail to at least 11,246 people in the next 10 seconds, a dog will bite you today at 6:30pm.
Nothing has happened till now......................but who knows. So please forward....

Network Analysis... can you solve this?

To all, who know how to solve the problems mathematically, something for you all? Please solve it

Kirchoff's Current Law (KCL): At every node, the sum of all currents entering a node must equal zero.

Kirchoff's Voltage Law (KVL): The voltage law says that the sum of voltages around every closed loop in the circuit must equal zero.

Exercise: Please apply Kirchoff's Current and Voltage laws to the following figures.

The American Ramayan

Jai Shri Ram,

A young second generation Indian in the US was asked by his mother to explain the significance of "Diwali" to his younger brother, this is how he went about it... "So, like this dude had, like, a big cool kingdom and people liked him. But, like, his step-mom, or something, was kind of a bitch, and she forced her husband to, like, send this cool-dude, he was Ram, to some national forest or something... Since he was going, for like, something like more than 10 years or so.. he decided to get his wife and his bro along... you know...so that they could all chill out together. But Dude, the forest was reeeeal scary shit... really man...they had monkeys and devils and shit like that. But this dude, Ram, kicked with darts and bows and arrows... so it was fine.

But then some bad gangsta boys, some jerk called Ravan, picks up his babe (Sita) and lures her away to his hood. And boy, was our man,and also his bro, Laxman..... all the gods were with him... So anyways, you don't mess with gods. So, Ram, and his bro get an army of monkeys.. Dude, don't ask me how they trained the damn monkeys... just go along with me,
ok...
So, Ram, Lax and their monkeys whip this gangsta's ass in his own hood..Anyways, by this time, their time's up in the forest..and anyways...it gets kinda boring, you know... no TV or malls or shit like that. So,they decided to hitch a ride back home... and when the people realize that our dude, his bro and the wife are back home... they thought, well, you know, at least
they deserve something nice... and they didn't have any bars or clubs in those days... so they couldn't take them out for a drink, so they, like, decided to smoke...and this was the start of this festival called Diwali".

Not knowing this may leave a big hole in your pocket

Information you cannot miss out

noname

If you are getting caught quite often by Bangalore's traffic police, then this will be the article you cannot miss out on. From now onwards, the Traffic Police cannot catch a motorist just to examine the driving license or vehicle documents. He can catch you only if you have violated any traffic laws or if you are driving drunk.

Remember that when caught for traffic violation, the fine you pay must be limited to the violation. In other words, the police can't bloat the bill saying that you have no insurance cover or emission certificate, etc. Many motorists do not know this. According to the State's Road Transportation Act, no policeman can slap a penalty on you just because you have no insurance or emission certificate. If you have not purchased insurance cover for your vehicle, then the police officer must issue a notice, not impose penalty. You must be given 15 days' time to purchase insurance cover and one week for obtaining the emission certificate. Days later, meet the sub-inspector at his station with the insurance cover or emission certificate, so that he will annul the charge at once. Police can fine you only if you fail to produce these documents within the stipulated period. If your vehicle is brand new, then you need not bother about obtaining the emission certificate for one full year.

In response to a question as to why policemen fine people instantly without giving them time to obtain insurance cover or emission certificate, Additional Commissioner for Traffic Praveen Sood said, "Yes, it is a mistake. People must force policemen to issue notice or complain to me at least the following day. I have suspended the Indira Nagar sub-inspector for catching people for silly reasons," he said. The best way to teach the police a lesson is filing a written complaint with their higher officials and, a week later, using the Right to Information Act (RTI) to know the action taken against them. Remember, any question or application filed under RTI cannot be ignored and no official is bold enough to ignore the RTI Act. Praveen Sood (Additional Commissioner for Traffic) - 22942276.

Last Chance to Save Indian Economy

U CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO THE INDIAN ECONOMY BY FOLLOWING FEW SIMPLE STEPS.
Please spare a couple of minutes here... for the sake of India ... our country. I got this article from one of my friends, but it's true, I can see this in day to day life, Small example,
Before 5 months 1  US $ = IND Rs. 39
After 5 months. Now it is
1 $ = IND Rs. 50
Do you think US Economy is booming? No, but Indian Economy is Going Down. Our Economy is in your hands. INDIAN economy is in a crisis. Our country like many other ASIAN countries is undergoing a severe economic crunch. Many INDIAN industries are closing down. The INDIAN economy is in a crisis and if we do not take proper steps to control those, we will be in a critical situation. More than 30000 Crore rupees of foreign exchange are being siphoned out of our country on products such as cosmetics, snacks, tea, beverages... etc which are grown, produced and consumed here. A cold drink that costs only 70 / 80 Paisa to produce is sold for NINE rupees, and a major chunk of profits from these are sent abroad. This is a serious drain on INDIAN economy. We have nothing against Multinational companies, but to protect our own interests we request everybody to use INDIAN products only for next two years. With the rise in petrol prices, if we do not do this, the rupee will devalue further and we will end up paying much more for the same products in the near future.
What you can do about it?
1. Buy only products manufactured by WHOLLY INDIAN COMPANIES.
2. ENROLL as many people as possible for this cause.
Each individual should become a leader for this awareness. This is the only way to save our country from severe economic crisis. You don't need to give-up your lifestyle. You just need to choose an alternate product. All categories of products are available from WHOLLY INDIAN COMPANIES.

Things U should Believe

A Birth Certificate shows we were born

A Death Certificate shows we died

Pictures show we lived!

Have a seat...Relax. ..And read this slowly.

I Believe...

Just because two people argue, Doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, Doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...

We don't have to change friends if We understand friends change.

I Believe....

No matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt You every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...

True friendship continues to grow, even over The longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I Believe...

You can do something in an instant That will give you heartache for life.

I Believe...

it's taking me a long time, To become the person I want to be.

I Believe...

You should always leave loved ones with Loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe...

You can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe...

We are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe...

Either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...

Heroes are the people who do what has to be done When it needs to be done, regardless of consequences.

I Believe...

Money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe...

My best friend and I can do anything or nothing And have the best time.

I Believe...

Sometimes the people you expect to kick you When you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...

Sometimes when I'm angry, I have the right to be angry, But that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe...

Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had And what you've learned from them, and less to do With how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe...

It isn't always enough to be forgiven by others; Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself..

I Believe...

No matter how bad your heart is broken, The world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe...

Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, But we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...

You shouldn't be so eager to find Out a secret. It could change your life forever.

I Believe...

Two people can look at the exact same Thing and see something totally different..

I Believe...

Your life can be changed in a matter of Hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...

Even when you think you have no more to give, when A friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I Believe...

Credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...

The people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

I Believe.....

You should send this to all of the people you believe in, I just did. by Posting it into blog

'The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; They just make the most of anything.
